This update fixes some new 1.21 bugs, as well as some very long-standing ones.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed shadow flickering when TAA is enabled (unfortunately only fixed in Iris)
- Fixed
Streamer Mode
darkness affecting clouds - Fixed 1.21 block selection outline in Iris
- Fixed 1.21 entities/block entities in Iris
- Fixed snowy & rainy biome detection in Iris
This release adds antialiasing, a much better sky, better rainy weather, and interactive grass.
With this release, the Content Creator edition of the shaders stops being officially supported. Instead, you can enable it by running enable_content_creator_presets.bat
(after extracting zip file).
New Features
- TAA is now enabled by default and smooths out pixelated edges.
- The Overworld Sky has been completely redesigned to use the Hosek-Wilkie sky model. Sunsets finally exist now, and rainy skies look much better.
- Grass bends under the player's feet. Only works in 1st person.
- Lilypads now wave with the water and submerge when a player steps on them.
- Rain Fog improves the appearance of the world during rainy weather.
- Lightning now lights up the clouds as well as the area around it.
- Added a Secondary Fog layer. This is disabled by default, and acts similar to vanilla fog.
- Grass Shadows can now be disabled.
- Blocks now have Specular Shading, meaning they very subtly reflect the sun.
- Fadeout is a new option which fades out entities that get too close.
- The Twilight Forest dimension is almost fully supported - unfortunately, stars in the dimension don't work yet.
- Water Fog now matches the lighting and time of day.
- Color Grading has been improved.
Bug Fixes
- Some Glowing Elements are now properly lit.
- Lava Variation no longer has sharp edges in some places.
- Having View Bobbing enabled no longer causes block lighting inconsistencies.

This release adds pixelated shadows, wavy water, revamped presets, and some potion effect and weather related tweaks.
New Features
- Pixelated Shadows are now an official feature and are included in the Vanilla++ preset.
- Wavy Water has been added and is integrated with the advanced wind system - waves move faster and water level rises when raining or thundering.
- Presets: The
Vanilla++
preset has been overhauled and now features more neutral colors and pixelated shadows. Vibrant colors can still be enabled by turning onUse LUT
and are still on by default inVanilla+++
. - Clouds are much more transparent, allowing you to see more of the sky (and the ground) through them.
- Ambient Occlusion: While proper AO is still being worked on, the vanilla ambient occlusion setting looks much prettier.
- Blindness: The blindness potion effect has been improved to match vanilla a bit better, and the transition out of blindness is smoother.
- Contrast: The post-processing
Contrast
option now works on brightness instead of directly on color, meaning cranking it up all the way no longer gives you that "deep-fried" look. - Invisibility Distortion now has a strength slider.
- Outlines now have a new
Outline Everything
option - this one is still somewhat experimental. - Shadow Filtering now has a
Bilinear
option. - Wavy Grass: Grass and other wavy blocks now bend downwards when in wind (previously they just stretched sideways).
- Wind Strength has been decreased during calm weather (wavy grass is a bit more subtle).
- End Fog has been slightly dimmed to match the sky color.
- Sweet Berry Bushes are now considered "stiff" by the wind system - this means they won't wave as much as other wavy blocks. The stiffness system is not new, but stiff berry bushes are.
Experimental Features
- Panoramic Worlds: This new setting is intended for ultrawide and/or curved monitors, and adds a panoramic effect to your world to decrease the stretching you see at the edges of your screen at high FOVs.
Bug Fixes
- Block Selection Outlines are finally visible on Iris and partially work on Optifine.
