Overview
This mod adds two major methods for improving the state of minecart rides, literally and metaphorically smoothing out the experience:
Quieter Rides
There are two ways to reduce the sound of a cart on the tracks:
- Method 1: Sneak+click on a minecart with honeycomb to wax the cart.
- Method 2: Placing rails on muffling blocks such as wool also reduces minecart noise.
Reduced Friction
When a minecart rolls on top of blocks such as gravel, it now moves with decreased friction. This can ease the demand for powered rails a little bit.
- The inspiration for this is partly derived from track ballast in real life. Pretty neat!
In addition, waxing a cart may allow for reduced friction. This is disabled in the config by default.
Config
You can configure the following:
- Minecarts can be muffled via wax. (default: true)
- Minecarts can be muffled by running along soft blocks like wool. (default: true)
- The loudest a minecart can get when muffled. 0.15 by default. 0.75 is vanilla loudness.
- Waxed minecarts on muffling blocks will run in complete silence. (default: false)
The following must be integers, set from 1 to 10:
- The friction bonus multiplier for waxy carts.
- The friction bonus multiplier for carts running on rail bedding.
- If the sum of the two bonuses is greater than or equal to 10, then combining the two will always result in the least amount of possible friction. This means that setting either value to 10 also makes the other value redundant as long as either condition is active.
Block Tags
There are two block tags, which can be altered via datapack:
change_of_cart:minecart_mufflers
includes the blocks that muffle minecarts.- Includes any wool blocks by default.
change_of_cart:rail_bedding
includes the blocks that reduce friction for minecarts.- Includes gravel by default.
Credit for the concept goes entirely to Zym. Special thanks to Jsburg and tallestred for code assistance.
Requires Blueprint. The mod is also optionally compatible with Copperative.
